Are corporate bonds still a safe investment?

Considering what happen to the bond holders of Chrysler & GM, would you still consider corporate bonds to be a safe investment or would you consider other investments to be safer?

1. Invest in a safe.
2. Huge corps. are dropping like flys. The GM failure will go down in history as a great American tragedy. AIG,Merril Lynch, Bear Stearns, Fanny and Freddie, and many more. Invest in American manufacture. Look at companies that make great products.
3. No Not No More Because You have to pay to the Government.
4. Bonds are a very unsafe investment until we get a President who follows the law. Unless of course - you have political connections.
